The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) Scheme was introduced on 1 July 2000 and provided a grant to first home buyers to purchase their first home. The FHOG scheme is fully funded by the ACT Government and administered by the ACT Revenue Office.
A first home owner grant cap applies to eligible transactions that commence on or after 1 January 2011. The cap limits the total value of eligible properties (i.e. total value of home and land) to $750,000 or less.
The First Home Owner Grant has been retargeted to new and substantially renovated properties only and is no longer available for the purchase of established properties.

From1 July 2017Queensland First Home Owners' Grantwill remain at the increased rate of $20,000 for a further 6 months.

The First Home Owner Grant is a one-off payment for eligible first home buyers/builders in Tasmania. From and including 1 January 2016, the FHOG payment is set at $20,000 for eligible purchasers of new homes (for example a spec home), homes off the plan and owner/builder homes. This payment has been extended for one year, from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018

First Home Buyer Grant
From 1 July 2013, a $10,000 First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) is available when you buy or build your first new home. Your home can be a house, townhouse, apartment, unit or similar, but it must be valued at $750,000 or less and be the first sale of the property as residential premises. It cannot be an investment property or a holiday house. The Government has announced that the existing FHOG on the purchase of an established home will conclude on 1 July 2013. To receive the FHOG on an established home, you must enter into a contract to purchase the home on or before 30 June 2013.
Land Transfer Duty (Stamp Duty)
From 1st July 2017 Land transfer duty will be abolished for first-home buyers purchasing a property up to $600,000, and a duty concession for first-home purchases valued from $600,001 to $750,000
First Home Buyer Duty Reduction
The duty reduction available for eligible first-home owners of both newly constructed and established homes will increase to 50 per cent for dutiable transactions with a settlement dated on or after 1 September 2014 until July 1st 2017, for homes valued up to $600,000.

First Home Owner Grant Boost
The Government has announced a $5,000 boost for first home owners eligible to receive the grant where a contract to purchase or construct a new home is entered into in 2017. The FHOB will now finish on June 30th 2017. Full details here.
